Wee Bee Hat

This baby hat matches the Wee Bee sweater. 

Knit seamlessly in the round from brim to crown. I-cords for securing the hat under baby’s chin are attached when casting on. Ear flaps are shaped with German short rows.

The honeycomb pattern is easy to knit once you’re on the right track and is suitable for advanced or ambitious beginners.

The pattern is written for three colors but there are unlimited possibilities to play: add as many contrasting colors to the honeycomb pattern as you wish. It’s a great way of using up scraps or those cute mini skeins.

Gauge 
25 sts & 38 rounds in honeycomb pattern to 10 cm x 10 cm (4 in x 4 in) on 2.75 mm / US 2 needles after blocking

Yarn 
Main color: 1 skein Frida Fuchs STEPPKE (100 g/366 m) 
Contrasting colors: 2 skeins Frida Fuchs MINI FÜCHSE (20 g/73 m) 
or any other fingering weight yarn that knits up the correct gauge

Newborn (to fit a head with 38 cm / 15 in): MC 55 m / 60 yards, CC1 10 m / 11 yards, CC2 20 m / 22 yards plus pompom 

Baby Small (to fit a head with 40-42 cm / 15.75-16.5 in): MC 70 m / 77 yards, CC1 12 m / 13 yards, CC2 25 m / 27 yards plus pompom 

Baby Large (to fit a head with 44-46 cm / 17.3-18 in): MC 85 m / 93 yards, CC1 14 m / 16 yards, CC2 30 m / 33 yards plus pompom 

Toddler (to fit a head with 48-50 cm / 19-19.75 in): MC 110 m / 120 yards, CC1 16 m / 18 yards, CC2 38 m / 42 yards plus pompom
